The American tennis player Serena Williams has lost her first claycourt outing of the season and the world number one ranking in the process at the WTA tournament in Marbella, Spain.
World number 95 Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic humbled the superstar 6-4 3-6 6-1.
The result meant that Russia's Dinara Safina will depose Serena Williams as the top-ranked woman in the game next week.
The 22-year-old Safina will join her brother Marat who was the men's top player in the world in 2000.
