All England Club paying out more to offset pound's dive

Prize money at this year's Wimbledon tennis championships is going up by six point two percent to over 12.5 million pounds or $32.6 million.

The organisers say the winners of the men's and women's singles will receive 850,000 pounds or $2.2 million, a 13 percent rise on last year.

The increases would be offset by the weakness of the pound against the euro and dollar, as most of the players don't bank in sterling, and the increases were bigger in the later rounds as it is the big-name players that help to drive the tournament forward.

The pound has dropped by around 25 percent against the dollar since last year's tournament and about 10 percent against the euro.
