Power goes out during Super 14 game

6:46 pm on 25 April 2009

The Super 14 rugby game between the Blues and Reds was delayed for almost an hour after power was lost to two of the four North Harbour Stadium's flood light towers.

Referee Vinny Munro called the game off after just four minutes of play after Blues captain Gus Collins said his players felt it was too dangerous to continue play.

Match manager Dave Sims told Sky Sport the problem was not at the stadium but a fault in the power system. He said a substation had failed and power had had to be re-routed through another substation..

The North Harbour Stadium is to host three night games in the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
