The former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan is one of several experienced players left out of a 12-man squad for next week's first Test against the West Indies at Lord's.
Vaughan, who had been tipped for a return at No.3 in the batting order, was omitted along with two other top order batsmen, Ian Bell and Owais Shah.
The squad also includes two uncapped pace bowlers, Graham Onions and Tim Bresnan.
