Danny Lee has continued his rise up the world golf rankings having picked up his first cheque as a professional.

The 18-year-old New Zealander earned $47,000 from his tie for 38th at the Quail Hollow championship in North Carolina on Monday, and he's jumped another eight places up the world rankings to 140th.

Lee's having a fortnight off before playing in the Byron Nelson Championship in Texas and he says he will be a contender on the tour, but just needs to keep working hard.

He says he's got a long way to go but he's still learning.

After the North Carolina tournament Lee says he has to improve his course management.
