Vili in action this weekend in Brazil

The presence of five Beijing Olympic champions, including New Zealander Valerie Vili, highlight the latest IAAF Grand Priz athletics meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this weekend.

Vili is the world leader in the shot put this year with a throw of 20.25m and her main competition will come from Beijing silver medalist Natallia Mikhnevich of Belarus.

Long jump champions Maurren Maggi of Brazil and Irving Saladino of Panama, triple jump champion Nelson Evora of Portugal and hammer throw champion Primoz Kozmus of Slovenia are the other Olympic champions taking part.

The meeting is one of a select group of 4 at which points can be acquired by athletes to qualify for the World Athletics finals in Greece in September.
