The Olympic Games and World Champion shot putter Valerie Vili has won again in Brazil although she didn't match the Oceania and New Zealand record of 20.69 metres she set in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.

Vili trailed the Beijing silver medalist Natallia Mikhnevich of Belarus by one centimetre after round two at the Sudamericano grand prix meeting in Uberlandia.

But after a foul in the next round she took the lead with 20.31 metres and extended it to 20.40 in the fifth while Mikhnevich stayed in second with 20.03.

Vili has another meet in Brazil on Monday as she builds for the Berlin World Championships in August.
