The New Zealand sevens rugby team has been beaten 31-26 in extra time by England in the final of the London leg of the IRB series.

The New Zealanders scored three first half tries to lead 19-0 at half-time, but just like Wellington earlier this year, the English stormed back in the second half and clinched the title in golden point extra time.

New Zealand is now in fourth place overall and will have Edinburgh next weekend to pick up their first title of the season.

South Africa lead the standings by 20 points from England.
