Williams team enters 2010 F1 championship

Williams has become the first current Formula One motor racing team to sign up for the 2010 championship despite an ongoing stand-off over the regulations that has left Ferrari threatening to quit.

In confirming the entry, Williams chief executive Adam Parr stressed the team also remains committed to the Formula One Teams Association which has written to the FIA asking for a concerted effort to find a compromise concerning the rules for next year's championship.

The main stumbling block concerns an optional $100 million budget cap the FIA wants to introduce to cut costs and help new teams enter.

The deadline for entries to next year's championship is only four days away.
