Crockett saw All Blacks call-up on TV

The three new All Blacks named for the June Tests against France and Italy heard about their selection at the same time as everyone else.

The Canterbury lock Isaac Ross heard it on the radio while his provincial and Super 14 team-mate, the prop Wyatt Crockett, says he was at home when he saw it on television.

Crockett says he had no call or even a hint from the coaches that he was going to be selected before that and he just watched it on television with his wife.

Bay of Plenty openside flanker Tanerau Latimer, the other new cap, heard about his elevation in the team hotel in Pretoria after the Super 14 final loss.

Latimer's stepping in for the injured Richie McCaw. Mils Muliaina has been named All Blacks captain in his place while the notable omission is Wellington No.8 Rodney So'oialo, who's taking time out until the Tri Nations to rest and rehabilitate a neck problem.
