After a close call against Tommy Haas of Germany, it's clear a first French Open title is far from a certainty for the Swiss tennis great Roger Federer.
Roland Garros is the only major title to elude the 13-time Grand Slam champion and it's been suggested that Rafael Nadal's loss in Paris has opened the way for Federer to win.
And if he can win two more matches he may well face the Scotsman Andy Murray in the final.
Murray, the world number three, goes into tonight's French Open quarter-final with Fernando Gonzalez eyeing the prospect of his first grand slam.
And in turn the British number one is expecting a tough test from the Chilean, who has a strong forehand, serves well and enjoys playing on clay.
The winner will face Russian 10th seed Nikolay Davydenko, or Nadal's conqueror Robin Soderling.
