The New Zealand javelin thrower Stuart Farquhar had his biggest result at a Diamond League meet, throwing the Javelin out to 80.42 metres, good enough for third place in the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland.
The Hamilton 30-year-old led the competition after the first three rounds, but was overtaken in the fourth round by double Olympic champion and training partner Andreas Thorkildsen from Norway, and in the fifth by the Swede Kim Ambround.
Meanwhile young Shot Putter Tom Walsh found the world champs selection standard of 20.10 metres just beyond him in his first Diamond League appearance in Lausanne.
Walsh's final of six attempts was measured at 19.61 metres, 49 centimetres short of the B standard required for selection for the Moscow World Championships.
He was placed eighth.
