Barker offended by America's Cup race director's comments

The Team New Zealand skipper Dean Barker says he's offended by comments made by America's Cup director Iain Murray over their protest of some of the safety rule changes.

On Tuesday, the day after the first race of the Louis Vuitton Challenger series an international jury will hear a protest from Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa about two of the changes demanded by Murray.

The proposed changes have come about following the death of Artemis sailor Andrew Simpson, who died in May when Artemis capsized.

Murray says if the protest succeeds the regatta will be in jeopardy but Barker says he's surprised at Murray's public comments considering the jury is about to sit.

He says the discussions over the proposed changes he's had with Murray were also supposed to be confidential.
