Black Caps standout won't be playing tests anytime soon

The Black Caps coach Mike Hesson says he won't be rushing fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan into the test cricket line-up despite his strong performances in the short format of the game.

McClenaghan is one of six new players given New Zealand Cricket contracts for the next year.

He was the second-highest wicket-taker at the recent Champions Trophy tournament in England with 11 wickets and made the tournament team, but Hesson says he's unlikely to be playing test cricket in the short term soon as he hasn't had a lot of first class experience.

The 27-year-old McClenaghan is currently playing for English county side Lancashire.
