The Africa-based New Zealand runner Zane Robertson has posted his fastest 5000 metres time at a meeting in Belgium to qualify for next month's world champs in Moscow.

Robertson finished ninth in the race in 13 minutes 13.83 seconds, just over a second under the A selection standard.

His twin brother Jake, who finished 11th, narrowly missed out on the 'A' standard by just over half a second with the pair both taking about seven seconds off their previous best times for the distance.

Zane's time moves him up to third on the New Zealand all-time list behind national record holder Adrian Blincoe and former world record holder Dick Quax.
