Melbourne Rebels join the list of clubs interested in Marshall

The Melbourne Rebels have joined the list of possible Super rugby sides that West Tigers' and Kiwis playmaker Benji Marshall could join.

The Australian newspaper the Herald Sun says Marshall's agent contacted the Rebels six weeks ago, to guage their interest in signing the rugby leage player star.

Marshall's agent Martin Tauber has said Marshall, who's requested an early release from his contract with the NRL club, will switch to rugby union with the Auckland based Blues and the New South Wales Waratahs having already confirmed an interest in signing him.

The Rebels chief executive Rob Clarke says previously the Australian rugby union has taken the lead in signing big name players but cautiuoned the Rebels wouldn't want to rush into anything.
