Langman jumps ship from Magic to Mystics

There could be an exodus of Silver Ferns from the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic netball franchise, following the defection of captain Laura Langman to the Northern Mystics.

Irene van Dyk, Casey Kopua and Leana du Bruin may yet follow Langman and long-serving coach Noeline Taurua out the door.

Langman admits Taurua's departure played a big part in her defection to the Auckland-based franchise, after 10 years of service, but it wasn't the only factor.

She says it was the right move for her professional development, her game and also her leadership, though it was a tough call and 100 percent for what her netball needed.

She says she hopes there'll be no bad feelings and she'll always be Magic and from Waikato, her growth to date has been completely due to the team and she'll always be grateful for that.

Mystics captain Maria Tutaia, Kayla Cullen and Anna Harrison have also confirmed their return to the Auckland-based franchise for next season.
