11:12 am on 22 July 2013

The Wellington golfer Mark Brown can be proud of his performance at the British Open after being under pressure to make the cut.

After an opening round of 77 at Muirfield in Scotland, Brown did well to qualify for the final two rounds, playing his last 54 holes in just four over par.

His tie for 44th earned him 31,000, and among the 31 players behind him were major championship winners Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Webb Simpson.
