BMX world champion dismisses criticism of Vector Arena circuit

Criticism of the indoor track for this weekend's BMX World Champs at Auckland's Vector Arena has been dismissed by world champion Sam Willoughby.

The New Zealand rider Marc Willers has called the purpose built track embarrassing, believing it's too short and the jumps too small - though the jumps have now been boosted for the elite riders, after the junior events finished on Thursday.

Willougby, from Australia, says he's pleased with the track, despite the space constraints.

He says if the track was outside it'd be a mudpit and he'd much rather compete inside, in a tight arena with plenty of noise and packed with spectators.

Willougby says those complaining are most probably those that are most nervous about their chances.
