Manchester United continue to pursue Fabregas

Manchester United are continuing their pursuit of the Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas for the upcoming Premier League football season.

The club's manager David Moyes confirmed it had made a second bid for the 26-year-old, despite Fabregas's Barcelona team-mate Gerard Pique telling British media that United were wasting their time chasing the playmaker.

Moyes says negotiations to sign the Spaniard are ongoing, but refused to be drawn further on the subject.

Fabregas last played in the Premier League in 2011 with Arsenal before leaving to link up with his home club.

Meanwhile Moyes says the recovery of his striker Wayne Rooney from a hamstring injury is on track.

Rooney left their Asia-Pacific tour early with the injury, fuelling intense speculation that he was close to leaving the English champions.
