Thrilling win over Crusaders puts Chiefs into grand final

8:16 am on 28 July 2013

The Chiefs will defend their Super Rugby title from the Brumbies in next Saturday's grand final at Waikato stadium.

In last night's semi final at Hamilton, the Chiefs outscored the Crusaders two tries to one and grimly held on to a one point advantage to see off the visitors 20-19.

The Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder says the game could have gone either way with Dan Carter missing a drop goal in thefinal minutes.

He says he's not going to complain about the referee Steve Walsh as the Chiefs deserved the victory.

The Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says the Crusaders have been playing fantastic rugby and his team was fortunate to have home advantage.

He says he's proud of the effort, but the Chiefs will need to back it up next week in the final.

CHIEFS 20 (Aaron Cruden, Lelia Masaga tries Cruden 2 cons 2 pens)

CRUSADERS 19 (Israel Dagg try Daniel Carter con 4 pens)

The Brumbies scored a last gasp try in Pretoria to beat the Bulls 26-23 in the other semi final.
