Tahitian banned for doping

11:53 am on 1 August 2013

A Tahitian international footballer has been provisionally suspended for a positive doping test at the recent FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

He's been banned for an initial period of 30 days and disciplinary proceedings have been opened.

The Tahitian and his football association have until mid-August to submit a statement to FIFA, together with all related and supporting documentary evidence.

Tahiti qualified for the World Cup warm-up after the All Whites went out of the Oceania Nations Cup qualifier in the semi-finals in Honiara last June.
