Perenara delighted to be named in All Blacks

The only new face in the All Blacks squad is relishing the prospect of playing for his country.

The Hurricanes halfback TJ Perenara was called in the squad for this year's Rugby Championship, at the expense of veteran Piri Weepu.

The 21-year old, who says he found out about his selection through social media, says his next goal is to impress the coaching group enough to push for some game time.

Last year Perenara's first Super Rugby season was cut short when he broke his ankle and he believes it made him more hungry to succeed.

Loose forward Victor Vito, another experienced All Black, was also omitted from the 28-man party.

Captain Richie McCaw was recalled after a sabbatical for the Championship, which begins with New Zealand's visit to Australia on August 17th.

Canterbury Crusaders prop Joe Moody was named as injury cover for Wyatt Crockett, who was included in the squad but will miss the start of New Zealand's title defence with a knee injury.
