The New Zealand football striker, Shane Smeltz, is set to be out of action until November after undergoing surgery to fix a troublesome hip complaint.
The Perth Glory star is expected to miss three months after undergoing the procedure, and isn't expected to start running again for another two months.
Perth kick off their season against Adelaide on October 13, while the All Whites have the first leg of their World Cup Qualilier in mid-November.
