The Silver Ferns have completed the first stage of trials for next month's Constellation Cup netball series against Australia.

A 24-player squad has been trialing in Auckland this week, with the coach, Waimarama Taumaunu, set to pick 17 players to attend another training camp in a fortnight, before selecting the final squad.

For the mid-courter, Joline Henry, who's returning to international netball following the birth of her first child, the trials have shown her she has a way to go before she's ready to take on Australia.

Joline Henry says she's aiming to improve her fitness to give her the option of filling in at centre, as well as her usual wing defence position.
