New Zealand's Olympic champion sailors Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie are on track for a world championship crown in France.

Aleh and Powrie lead the field heading into the medal races at the World 470 championships.

They're three points ahead of nearest rivals France and eight points clear of third-placed Austria, after a 13th and a third on the penultimate day.

The New Zealand men's crew of Paul Snow-Hansen and Dan Wilcox have scraped into the medal race, recovering from 11th to just make the top eight.
