Wimbledon's centre court queen Maria Sharapova has been sensationally eliminated in the second round by Argentina's Gisela Dulko in the second round.

The 2004 champion showed her lack of matchplay followng 10 months off with a shoulder injury as she lost in three sets, and there are question marks over the ability of the sport's most bankable star to ever return to her former powers.

Dulko, the world number 45, is through to Wimbledon's third round for the third time.

In the men's draw Roger Federer coasted through to the third round, beating Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

Two of the surprise semi-finalists from last year had their follow-up attempts cut short.

Zheng Jie, the first Chinese to reach a grand slam semi-final, was beaten 6-3 7-5 by former world number five Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia.

And the German Rainer Schuettler, the men's 18th seed, was beaten in straight sets by Israel's Dudi Sela.
