The second game of the new provincial rugby competition was another mismatch as Canterbury thrashed visitors Taranaki 30-6 in Christchurch.
Canterbury were far too strong, running in four tries to Taranaki's none as the reigning champions opened their campaign for a sixth straight national title.
On Thursday Wellington also dished out a hiding, thumping promoted Counties Manukau 55-16 in Pukekohe in the opening match of the ITM Cup.
