Jacko throws world's best

Auckland teenage shot put sensation Jacko Gill has broken the world junior record with a throw of 23 metres this afternoon at North Shore's Millennium Track.

The 18-year-old Takapuna club member's big throw with the six-kilo shot removes the last junior mark held by German David Storl, who two days ago retained his world senior championship title in Moscow.

Gill has won the last two world under-20 titles as a 15-year-old in 2010 and last year as a 17-year-old.

It may take some for the performance time to be ratified by athletics governing body, the IAAF.
