The former cycling world championship medallist, Anthony Peden, has been named as the new coach of BikeNZ's sprint programme.
The Australian-born New Zealand cyclist, won a silver medal in the keirin in 1999, and helped coach the Australian motorcycle star, Casey Stoner, to two Moto GP world titles after his retirement in 2006.
Peden says there's plenty of potential within New Zealand's sprint cycling ranks.
He takes up his post next month with camps in Auckland and Invercargill ahead of the Oceania Championships and World Cup competitions in Manchester and Mexico.
