Newcastle sneak into third round of League Cup

English Premier League side Newcastle United scored two late geals to beat Morecambe in the second round of the League Cup.

It is the first win of the season for Magpies manager Alan Pardew, whose side set up a third round home tie with Leeds.

Everton had to come from behind to see off lower league Stevenage 2-1.

Stoke beat third-tier League One side Walsall 3-1, Aston Villa beat Rotherham 3-0 and 2012 finalists Cardiff beat Accrington 2-0.

Luis Suarez is in line to make his return from a 10-match ban in Liverpool's third round tie at arch-rivals rivals Manchester United following the draw.

The 26-year-old has been pressing for a move away from Anfield, with Arsenal interested in signing the Uruguayan forward.

But if the striker remains at Anfield, his first match back after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last season will be at Old Trafford against United.
