Junior Tall Blacks jump straight into fire

Some of the world best young basketballers are in action in Auckland today with the start of FIBA's

under 19 men's world championships.

The 16-team tournament starts at 10am with the USA playing Iran and Croatia playing Kazakhstan.

The Junior Tall Blacks play the world's top-ranked side Argentina in their first match at half past 8 tonight at the North Shore Events Centre.

Argentina beat the USA in their qualifying tournament and the New Zealand coach Kenny McFadden says they'll provide an early gauge of his teams chances.

McFadden says they're jumping straight into the fire but don't mind starting with a tough game .

The Junior Tall Blacks' other opponents are Croatia tomorrow night and Kazakhstan on Saturday night.
