New Zealand's cricketers could be the first to experience test matches under lights in an historic clash against Australia.
Cricket Australia have announced a trial of day-night first class matches in their upcoming domestic season using specially designed pink balls.
If the trials are successful Cricket Australia will look to schedule a day-night test against the Black Caps in late 2015.
It's hoped the introduction of night test matches will boost crowd numbers and television viewers which have suffered since the introduction of the TV-friendly Twenty20 format.
