Ranfurly Shield heads north

7:44 am on 2 September 2013

The Otago rugby coach Tony Brown feels his side should have beaten Hawke's Bay yesterday and held onto the Ranfurly Shield.

The Bay have lifted the Shield for the first time since 1969 after winning 20-16 in Dunedin.

Brown felt they should have had a penalty at the end of the game, but otherwise they had their chances to win....

meanwhile the Hawke's Bay coach Craig Philpott says it's a great result for their province.... he says he's most pleased because his players were able to stick to their game plan.

Hawke's Bay will defend the Ranfurly Shield against Counties-Manukau this weekend.
