South Africa to have a sixth team

South Africa will have a sixth team in Super Rugby from 2016.

The SANZAR parties are meeting in Sydney and even though the format for the competition is yet to be finalised when the new broadcast deals starts, South Africa has been told they'll have an extra team.

Both SANZAR chief executive Greg Peters and his South African Rugby Union counterpart Jurie Roux have confirmed that agreement has been reached that a sixth franchise from the country.

The South Africans have wanted the Southern Kings to be a permanent part of the competition.

Peters told South African media that a team from Argentina is logical and if possible they'd like to accomodate them.

He says there has also been a move from within New Zealand for a sixth team but that will be sorted out later once it comes time to settle on what model is going to be adopted.
