The English Premier League's standing as the world's richest sporting competition remains intact.
After the closing of the transfer window, the 20 EPL football clubs had shelled out a total of 630 million pounds on players, almost as much as the Spanish and Italian top-flight clubs put together, and a 29 percent increase on last year.
Transfer fees paid by Spanish clubs were up a staggering 205 percent on last year.
Germany's Bundesliga clubs were the lowest spenders in the window, although their total was still 10 percent up on 2012.
