We deserve it: Steel coach after scraping home

12:29 pm on 7 July 2009

The Southern Steel are back training again today after squeaking into the trans-Tasman netball championship finals on goal percentage.

They needed Queensland to lose or not win by 10 points or more in Perth last night against the West Coast Fever, and Queensland's 54-52 victory certainly tested the Invercargill team's nerves.

The Steel coach Robyn Broughton says they're waiting on a calf injury to their Silver Fern goal defence Sheryl Scanlan, and it's been a hard road this season with other injuries and the enforced departure of shooter Daneka Wipiiti through pregnancy.

The Steel plan to goto Adelaide on Saturday for their semi-final against the Thunderbirds on Monday.

The Melbourne Vixens host the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic on Sunday.
