Tokyo's been awarded the 2020 Summer Olympics, comfortably heading off Istanbul and Madrid for the rights.
The Japanese won by a landslide, 60 votes to Istanbul's 36 after Madrid was eliminated in the first round.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promised the International Olympic Committee meeting in Buenos Aires that concerns about the leaking Fukushima nuclear plant 230 km from Tokyo were unfounded.
For Istanbul it was a fifth unsuccessful bid to host a Summer Olympics.
The next Summer Olympics will be hosted by Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
