The New Zealand men's football team will have the services of the Australian-born defender Andrew Durante for November's intercontinental playoff for a place at next year's World Cup.

The Wellington Phoenix captain's finally been declared eligible for All Whites duty by FIFA - football's world governing body says it's dismissed disciplinary charges against New Zealand over allegedly fielding an ineligible player in the Oceania qualifiers.

The proceedings were opened in June after Durante made his international debut in the March qualifier against the Solomon Islands.

The All Whites will face one of Mexico, Honduras or Panama home and away for a place in Rio 2014.
