Marshall ruled out of World Cup

New Zealand playmaker Benji Marshall won't be part of the Kiwis' Rugby League World Cup campaign.

Marshall played his last NRL game for the Wests Tigers on the weekend and will join the Blues Super Rugby side in Auckland next year.

The former Kiwis skipper informed selectors his switch to rugby union would rule him out of the tournament so he was not named in the 17-man train-on squad.

The squad was chosen from the eight clubs that won't feature in the NRL play-offs this year and includes eight Warriors.

Marshall's Tigers team-mate, Tim Simona, is the only new face in ther squad.
