Props get one week suspension for stamping

The Southland prop Jamie Mackintosh and Waikato prop Ben Tameifuna have each been suspended from rugby for one week following judicial hearings into separate incidents during their provincial match in Invercargill on Friday.

Southland won the match 20 -16.

Macintosh was cited for stamping and while judicial Officer Chris Morris labelled the stamping forceful rucking the number of times Mackintosh's boot made contact with the Waikato player had put it into a more serious category.

The suspension means Mackintosh will miss Southland's match against Manawatu in Palmerston North on Friday.

Tameifuna was cited for the same offence, coincidentally on Mackintosh earlier in the game and will miss Waikato's match against Auckland on Saturday.

Morris says Tameifuna's offending was reckless but not intentional.
