Erakovic reaches Quebec semis with marathon victory

The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has reached the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Quebec, in Canada, with a marathon three-set defeat of Ajla Tomljanovic.

The Croatian won the first set 6-2 before Erakovic struck back to take the second set 6-1.

But the Aucklander had to rally from 4-1 down in the third, storming back to lead 5-4. She was broken to love in the 10th game, but rallied to claim the set 7-5 and the match.

Erakovic plays American Christina McHale for a place in the final after McHale edged Polona Hercog of Slovenia in three sets.
