Todd's absence means McCaw's on the plane

Matt Todd's been released from the All Blacks camp and named to start on the openside for Canterbury in Saturday's top of the table provincial clash in Wellington.

Todd will miss the trip to Argentina, leaving Sam Cane as the only specialist No.7 in place of Richie McCaw.

But the injured captain will travel with the team - the selectors are clearly hoping McCaw will recover in time to face the Springboks in the key Rugby Championship clash in Johannesburg in two weekends' time.

Tom Taylor gets the nod to cover first five eighths for the All Blacks ahead of Canterbury team-mate Colin Slade, who gets the start at fullback for the champions against the Lions.
