Oracle win fourth straight

9:53 am on 23 September 2013

Oracle Team USA have won both of Monday's America's Cup yacht races, to close the gap to Emirates Team New Zealand to just three points.

The holders claimed the day's second race - and their fourth straight - by 37 seconds, though Team New Zealand remain on match point, leading 8-5 in the race to nine wins.

There was nothing in it at the start on San Francisco Bay, but Oracle's port advantage was again decisive and the holders were able to lead through the first mark and all the way to the finish line.

From there Oracle eased out to a one-minute lead at the second mark and despite the challengers closing the gap to 32 seconds at the top mark, it was back out to 37 seconds at mark four and the American team won by that margin.

Oracle won the first of the day's races by 23 seconds. Two more races are scheduled for Tuesday morning.
