The New Zealand A cricketers have been beaten by their Sri Lankan opponents by 168 runs in their four-day match in Dambulla.
Chasing 440 for victory, bowler Doug Bracewell scored 104, but it wasn't enough as the New Zealanders were bowled out for 271.
The first match of the series was drawn.
The two sides now play three one-dayers.
