Wayne Bennett to stay at Knights

Newcastle coach Wayne Bennett has reportedly confirmed he will stay at the National Rugby League club.

Just 24 hours after his team and club legend Danny Buderus were knocked out of the NRL finals by the Sydney Roosters, The Daily Telegraph on Sunday reported that Bennett told them he was staying put.

Two years into a four-year contract, the 63-year-old, seven-time Premiership-winning coach said he had never stated he was going anywhere, and it was all media speculation

Even at his media conference after Saturday night's loss to the Roosters, Bennett would not discuss his immediate future.

His deal with Newcastle is worth more than $5 million overall with bonuses.

Bennett's still confident he can deliver a Premiership in Newcastle and become the first coach to win titles at three different clubs.
