Eden Park to host more Warriors matches in 2014

The Warriors will move more NRL games away from its Mt Smart Stadium home next season after announcing its venues for 2014.

Auckland's Eden Park will host three matches next year, two more than it has since the club first played there in 2011.

Wellington will also host another match after a record crowd for this year's clash against the Bulldogs at Westpac Stadium, leaving only eight home matches to be played at the club's traditional Penrose home.

The chief executive, Wayne Scurrah, says moving more games away from Mount Smart Stadium has become a commercial necessity.

He says the move's also in line with the Australian Rugby League Commission's objective for all clubs to increase average attendances to 20,000 as well as promoting the NRL by taking games to the regions and to bigger stadiums.
