Door firmly shut on Nonu with Hurricanes signing Parkes

Any outside chance there was of All Blacks second five of Ma'a Nonu returning the Hurricanes has been extinguished with the Super rugby franchise signing former Blues player Hadleigh Parkes.

Parkes, who captain's the Auckland provincial side, played for the South African side the Southern Kings in this year's competition.

Nonu who was let go by the Hurricanes two years ago, then went to the Blues and then the Highlanders, is still looking for a franchise for next season.

The Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett says Parkes has been signed as a second five eight and re-confirmed Nonu won't be playing for them.

The Hurricanes have also confirmed two other signings in Tasman first-five-eight Marty Banks and Hawkes Bay lock Mark Abbott.
