Dixon takes over Indycar lead

The New Zealand motor racing driver Scott Dixon's success in the latest round of IndyCars has been marred by a high speed crash on the final lap.

Dixon followed up yesterday's win with a second place finish today.

The result has taken him into the overall lead in the championship heading into the final round in California in a fortnight.

Dixon's team-mate Dario Franchitti was involved in a 3-car pileup on the final round and was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

Dixon now has a 25-point championship lead over Helio Castroneves, who failed to pick up any points over the weekend.
