White Ferns grab narrow win over West Indies

The New Zealand women's cricket team have have snatched a one-run win in their opening one day match against the West Indies, in Kingston.

Batting first the White Ferns made 225 for eight, led by Suzie Bates with 110, her fifth one day international century.

In reply, the West Indies appeared to be cruising at 212 for six and needing just 14 runs from 30 balls but a flurry of wickets allowed the White Ferns back into the match, before claiming the final wicket in the last over.

The second match in the three games series is on Wednesday.
